What happens if I use an external product feed management tool?
Updated 20 October 2026
It works. Bavian reads your products from Merchant Center, whichever tool or app puts them there, so you don't connect your feed tool to Bavian.
When Bavian runs its own Shopping campaigns, it adds a data source called SUPPLEMENTAL DATA SOURCE FOR SHOPPING ADS for each feed its campaigns use. It only sets one custom label on your products and doesn't change your titles, prices or other product data.
When your tool adds or replaces a data source
Bavian doesn't pick up a new data source by itself. Until you add it, its products aren't in Bavian's own Shopping campaigns.
- In Bavian, open the Shopping page, then Setup.
- Under Select feed to import, tick the new data source. Untick only one you've stopped using.
- Click Import feed.
Custom labels
Bavian uses one of the five custom label fields, one your products don't already use. If your feed tool also writes custom labels, give it a different field than Bavian's. You can see which field Bavian uses with Open feed file on the Shopping page. If both write to the same field, Bavian's value wins.
If your products already use all five fields, a banner asks you to Choose a label for Bavian, and that field's current value is replaced.
Good to know
- Don't delete or unlink Bavian's SUPPLEMENTAL DATA SOURCE FOR SHOPPING ADS. If it's unlinked, Bavian doesn't link it again.
- Keep your product IDs the same when you change tools, because Bavian matches products by their ID.
