How do I connect my Merchant Center account to Bavian?

Updated 18 October 2026

If your project is set up as an online store, Bavian needs your Google Merchant Center account, where your product feed lives, to run Shopping ads. You can't finish setting up an online store without it.

Before you start

Your Merchant Center account has to be linked to the same Google Ads account you connected to Bavian. You do that in Google: an admin in Merchant Center sends a link request, and an admin of the Google Ads account approves it. If you're an admin in both, it's approved straight away. Google's guide shows where to do it.

Connect your account

You connect Merchant Center as the last step of setting up an online store. Later, you find it under Shopping, then Setup.

  1. Click Connect on the Merchant Center card, choose a Google login that has access, and approve the access Google asks for.
  2. Choose the account under Choose the Merchant Center account to use. If your login has only one, it's chosen for you.
  3. If you see Link your Merchant Center account to Google Ads in Google, then refresh to continue., link the accounts in Google, then click Refresh under that message.
  4. Under Select feed to import, check that the feeds you want are ticked (during setup they all are) and click Complete. On the Setup page, the button says Import feed.

If you've connected Merchant Center in another project, you can pick it under Reuse a Google login from another project instead of signing in again. That reuses only the Google login: you still choose the Merchant Center account, and it can't be the one the other project uses.

What Bavian does with it

Connecting only reads your products. When Bavian starts its own Shopping campaigns, after you turn on Autopilot, it adds a data source called SUPPLEMENTAL DATA SOURCE FOR SHOPPING ADS to your Merchant Center. Don't delete it. Bavian doesn't change your titles or prices.

If your products already use all five custom labels, a banner asks you to Choose a label for Bavian to use. That label's current value is replaced, so any campaign of your own that uses it stops matching those products.

If it doesn't work

  • No Merchant Center accounts are available for this Google login. Click Connect again and choose a Google login that has access to your Merchant Center.
  • You're stuck on the link step. Bavian sees the link only once it's approved. Check that it has been, and that the Merchant Center account number on the card is the one linked to this Google Ads account. Then click Refresh under the message.
  • An account in the list says Already managed by another project. A Merchant Center account can only be in one project. If that project is yours, disconnect the account there first. Otherwise, contact us.
  • No data sources found in your Merchant Center account. Add your product feed in Merchant Center first, then reload the page.

To switch to another Merchant Center account, the owner clicks Disconnect on the card, connects the new account and chooses its feeds again under Shopping, then Setup. Disconnecting also removes Bavian's data source.
