How do I change the countries my ads target?

You choose where your ads show on the Locations & languages page in Bavian. Under The same everywhere, it shows the one set of places all your campaigns share. Under Different per campaign, it lists the campaigns Bavian manages and the places each one targets.

Change your countries

1. Open the Locations & languages page.
2. Choose The same everywhere, or choose Different per campaign and open the campaign you want to change.
3. Search for a country, region, city or address, and pick it. To remove a place, click its bin icon.
4. Click Save to all campaigns (under The same everywhere) or Save changes (under Different per campaign).

Saving under The same everywhere also changes the campaigns you ran before Bavian. Under Different per campaign, you can copy one campaign's places to others by ticking them under Also apply to other campaigns.

Your change is sent to Google Ads right away, though on a busy account it can take up to a couple of hours. If it can't get through by then, nothing changes, and you're asked to save again.

Changing places or languages here doesn't change your ads' text. The languages are set further down the same page, except for Shopping campaigns, and the language your ads are written in is set on the Business context page.

Who can change it, and when

Anyone on your team can change the places once Autopilot has been turned on for the account and while your subscription is active, also when Autopilot is paused. Before that, Bavian uses the places you confirmed when you set it up, and the campaigns it builds when you start get them. If no places are set yet, the Start Autopilot box on Insights asks for them with Set locations.

Good to know

• A city, municipality, postcode, address or point on the map becomes a circle around it, 20 km by default, which you can set between 1 and 100 km. A country or region is targeted as a whole.
• Only a named place from the search list, such as a country, region or city, can be excluded, not an address or a point on the map. Excluding a city keeps out the whole city.
• Your Shopping campaigns are one row and always change together.
• Campaigns you ran before Bavian keep their own places until you change them here.
• A campaign Bavian adds later starts with the places most of your campaigns already target, and a new Shopping campaign with the places from when you set up Bavian, so check new campaigns here.
• To show Shopping ads in a new country, your products in Merchant Center have to be set up for that country.
