How do I start or pause a campaign in Bavian?

Updated 20 October 2026

You can start or pause the campaigns Bavian manages from the Campaigns page. Your choice stands, and Bavian works around it.

Start or pause a campaign

  1. In Bavian, open the Campaigns page.
  2. In the menu above the list, choose Active to pause a running campaign, or Paused to start one.
  3. Click the switch icon at the top right of the list to show the switches.
  4. Flip the campaign's switch.
  5. Read the dialog and click Pause campaign or Switch on.

Anyone on your team can do it, as long as you have an active subscription.

What happens to your budget

  • When you pause a campaign, your total daily budget stays the same. In its next daily run, Bavian gives the paused campaign's share to your other campaigns.
  • When you switch a campaign on, it runs at its own daily budget, and your total usually goes up by that amount. The dialog shows what will happen to your total before you confirm.

To change the total itself, use the Budget page.

Will Bavian change it back?

Bavian starts and pauses campaigns itself as part of managing the account, but it leaves your choice alone. It only reverses it if something new comes up that costs you money or breaks a rule. If a script or another tool switches a campaign you paused back on, Bavian pauses it again.

There's no button to hand the decision back to Bavian. Otherwise, the campaign stays as you set it until someone changes it again, in Bavian or by hand in Google Ads.

Good to know

  • You can also start or pause a campaign in Google Ads. Bavian notices within a day and treats it the same way.
  • If you pause your last running campaign, your ads stop until you switch one on again.
  • The Shopping campaigns Bavian builds itself have no switch.
  • If a campaign won't switch on, the message says why, for example that its end date has passed.
  • To stop a campaign, pause it. Remove takes it out of Google Ads for good: it can't be switched back on, though its history stays in your Google Ads reports.
