What permissions does Bavian need?
Updated 18 October 2026
Bavian asks for as little as it can: access to your Google Ads account, and to your Merchant Center if you sell products. Signing in with Google only tells Bavian who you are.
Signing in
If you sign in with the Google button, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture, and Bavian keeps your name and email address. You can also sign in with a code sent to your email instead.
Google Ads
When you click Connect on the Google Ads card, Google asks in its own window whether Bavian may see, edit, create and delete your Google Ads accounts and data. Bavian needs that to run your campaigns, and Google has no read-only version of this permission for apps to ask for.
The access covers the Google Ads accounts your Google login can open, but Bavian only works in the one you choose. Your login needs Standard or Admin access in Google Ads, because only those can change campaigns.
Merchant Center
If you run a webshop, Bavian also asks for access to your Merchant Center: Google's window asks whether Bavian may manage your product listings and accounts for Google Shopping.
Bavian reads your products and adds an extra data source that gives each product a label, which decides the Shopping campaign it's advertised in. It doesn't edit the products in your own feed: it links its data source to your feed and puts the label in a custom label field your feed doesn't use. If all five are in use, Bavian asks you which one it may replace.
What Bavian doesn't get
Bavian never sees your Google password, and it doesn't ask Google for anything else, such as Google Analytics, Search Console or your Gmail. In Google Ads, it doesn't change your billing settings or who has access.
Removing access
Remove access in Bavian first, then in Google.
- In Bavian, the owner clicks Disconnect on the Google Ads card on the Connections page. That removes the Shopping campaigns Bavian built from your Google Ads account. Every other campaign keeps running as it is, including the Search and Performance Max campaigns Bavian built, but Bavian no longer changes any of them. Your Bavian subscription isn't cancelled.
- For a webshop, the owner also clicks Disconnect on the Merchant Center card. That deletes Bavian's extra data source from your Merchant Center.
- Then remove Bavian in your Google account: go to myaccount.google.com/linkedapps, choose Bavian and remove its access. That ends its access for every project that uses the same Google login. Your campaigns keep running.
The order matters, because once Google has cut Bavian off, Bavian can't remove its Shopping campaigns or its data source.
